Primary Tap & Modern. Suitable for Reception and Year 1 Pupils aged 4-6.

This class combines 20 minutes of Modern and 20 minutes of Tap. In Primary Modern, children are introduced to their sense of rhythm with exercises such as Walking, Skipping, Jumping and Galloping all designed to help children use their musicality. In Primary Tap children are introduced to how they can use rhythm within the music to tap their feet, also how to use different parts of the feet such as the ‘Ball and Heel beats’ exercise.

Tap and Modern encourage self-discipline, self expression, allowing children to develop their listening skills and also encourage children to follow instruction. ISTD Modern helps children learn to work as both an individual and in a group, developing co-ordination, good posture, strength and suppleness, also a chance to be free with the entertaining music and the ability for the children to use their imaginations and facial expressions.

UNIFORM

For Modern and Tap, children should wear our royal blue leotard with black shorts or leggings and Tap and Jazz shoes.
